Easy LED fixes for Strip Lights!

Easy LED fixes for Strip Lights!

Many of you have experience with strip lights, and we know that they can be a pain. They suck power, and their lamps always seem to die at the worst possible moment. However, hope is in sight! You can convert your strip lights to LED quickly and easily!

Incandescent strip lights use a ton of power. Specifically, each unit uses an average of 1,800 watts. If you run your lights four hours per day, seven days a week, your electricity bill for one strip light can cost up to $350 per year. Now, multiply that amount by the number of units in your space. They’re starting to look more and more expensive!

LED bulbs sip power. If we use the same measurements as the incandescent strip light, each unit is only using 108 watts, less than ten percent of its incandescent counterpart. Your power bill will be smaller too, weighing in at only $20 per year, per unit.

Incandescent bulbs burn out frequently. If an incandescent lamp is handled perfectly, and is pristine from the factory, the expected lifespan of that lamp is 1,250 hours. At four hours a day, seven days a week, your lamp will burn out in about ten months. (Typically, right in the middle of a show or event!)

LED bulbs run for years. To be exact, 34 years, following our example. Even if you run them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, they will still last you more than five years. This means less time spent finding a new lamp, pulling out a ladder, and climbing up to swap things out!

It’s super easy to switch to an LED light. In our workshop, we swapped out a full strip light with LED lights in less than ten minutes! Your existing incandescent bulbs simply unscrew, and the LED replacements screw in, in exactly the same way.

NOTE! If your facility already has existing LED light fixtures, and you have DMX control onstage, then this may not be the route that you wish to follow. Consider replacing your existing incandescent strip lights with a DMX-controllable model, such as the Chauvet DJ COLORstrip or the Blizzard STORMchaser RGBW LED strip/Special FX. As a bonus, this will allow you to have even fewer fixtures on your dimming system, saving you even more energy.

No matter how you look at it, LEDs for your strip lights can save you money (And time. And labor. And energy.)  (And who doesn’t want to save money, time, labor energy and more?)
