Colortran ENR dimmer rack with airflow error

Do you have a Colortran ENR dimmer rack that is having airflow issues?

If you have a Colortran ENR or Leviton Topaz dimming rack, then you might have seen this before. If you look at the bottom of the dimmer rack near the control module, or "brains" of the system, WHILE THE SYSTEM IS ON, then you might see an amber LED that is lit. If you see this, then you might be experiencing lights that are blinking or not working at all.  Important note - The yellow airflow light LED amber light sensor is ALSO ON when the system is not in use. Please make sure that your system is on and that the airflow sensor light is on.

This airflow sensor warning is typically caused by dust or dirt stuck to the airflow sensor, which will cause the sensor to trigger.  This, in turn, will have the tendency to make the lights do odd things. The airflow sensor allows the rack to monitor the temperature while the fans are running so that the dimming rack doesn't overheat.

The easiest fix is to clean out the control modules. You will need a can of duster or an air compressor that does not produce moisture.  Locate the air vent that is on the front of the control module and spray out the area.  Please leave the control module inside the dimmer rack. The airflow vent is in the front of the control module and is about 1"x 1".  These tend to get dirty from the fans sucking up all the dirt particles in the air.

Test this by running the lights via lighting console or architectural system.  If the airflow lights turn on again make sure the dimming rack fan(s) are running.  Bad fans will also turn on the airflow sensor.  (Again, if the system is turned off, then the airflow light will also be on).  The steps above should correct the issue with your airflow sensor.  If the airflow sensor is still failing, then you likely have a control module that will need to be repaired.  These airflow sensors go bad all the time and since it is an older system it is very common.

You will need to send the control module(s) to Knight Sound and Lighting for repair.
